Retina & Uveitis
The retina is back layer of the eye on the inside. It is the light-sensitive tissue that lines the inside of the eye and functions similar to film in a camera. The cornea and lens help focus images onto the retina which propagates chemical and electrical events within the retina that activate the nerve fibers within the retina. These nerve fibers send electrical signals to the brain which interprets the signals into visual images. The retina is critical to good vision and many conditions throughout the body can affect it along with eye-specific conditions.
A partial list of these conditions includes:
- Age-Related Macular Degeneration
- Diabetic Retinopathy
- Retinal Detachment
- Central Serous Chorioretinopathy
- Uveitis
